Time Activity Mat Review and Giveaway

Learning Resources sent the girls the Time Activity Mat to check out. I actually picked it out since we are working on learning how to tell time. What kid doesn’t learn best when having fun? I know my girls always seem to enjoy games and I’ve noticed they remember EVERYTHING about the games. Why not put that to good use?

The game didn’t take any time to get started. We pulled out the huge vinyl mat, snapped the plastic clock hands on it and blew up the 4 inflatable cubes (basically the dice). Diva of course got to go first since she was the youngest playing the game. She is only 4 and in preschool, she can’t count by 5’s yet but the good news is that the vinyl mat has 5 blue dots between the clock numbers. So, she would count all the way up to 55 if she needed to in order to get her time right.

Drama, however, can count by 5’s and with this game is starting to be able to tell time. She has to count by 5’s, she isn’t multiplying in her head yet but she can read the clock now. We had so much fun playing and I can’t tell you how much I love the fact that the girls are learning while playing a game. I’m not a big fan of games that have no learning element.

Let’s go back to Learning Resources and talk about it for a minute. Seriously, what fun! So many different activities, games and toys all centered around learning. I love the face that Learning Resources has an “Able Play Rating” chart. This is shows disability categories and 5 star rating system. The disability categories are Physical, Sensory, Communicative and Cognitive. I am blessed to have children without any disabilities. I can’t imagine how hard it is to shop for children with disabilities. Thanks for that Learning Resources.

If you have a child between the ages of 5 and 8, who is learning how to tell time, I recommend the Time Activity Mat.  The whole Messy Family had a blast playing the game.  The girls ask to play it all the time.  I love the fact that it's easily cleaned, it has to be if it's coming into the Messy House.  When we aren't playing with it we simply fold up the mat, deflate the cubes and put it all back in the box, which takes no time at all.
