Best Western Premier Hotel Review and Jump Start to Summer Rewards Promotion

A few weeks ago when I thought of Best Western the term Luxury never entered my mind.  Well, now that's all I think of when I think of Best Western Premier.   Best Western now offers three types of hotels with amenities and services to meet your individual travel needs, so that finding the right hotel is now easier than ever.

Best Western:  Warm, clean, comfortable surroundings welcome you at BEST WESTERN hotels, with all the amenities to ensure a restful and productive stay at an exceptional value.

Best Western Plus:  Offering that little something extra, from well appointed rooms to modern amenities, BEST WESTERN PLUS hotels are thoughtfully designed to suit the needs of any business or leisure traveler.

Best Western Premier:  A refined level of comfort awaits you at BEST WESTERN PREMIER hotels. Distinct styling. Personalized service. The plush amenities and features will always leave a lasting impression.

Mr. Messy and I were fortunately asked to stay at the Mariemont Inn, a Best Western Premier Hotel in Mariemont, Ohio.  Mariemont is just outside of Cincinnati and it is such a quaint little village.  It seems to be separate from the rest of the hustle and bustle of the world.   Mariemont Inn is located just 9 miles outside of Cincinnati and it's worth the few extra minutes away from the city.

We stayed in the Standard King Room:

Standard King

Each Standard King guestrooms feature a Tempurpedic king-size bed, synthetic down comforter, selection of pillows, and 300-thread-count linens. The custom oak furniture was designed with you in mind and features built-in LED headboard lights, a movable desk return and traditional comfy English barrel chairs with ottomans. Also included is high-speed Internet access, a Herman-Miller desk chair, a hidden 42-inch LCD television with High Definition programming, fireplace, iron/ironing board, built-in electronic safe, as well as a built-in refrigerator.
Renew your senses in the bathroom, which includes an over sized glass shower with two fogless mirrors and multiple showerheads. Granite and oak vanities offer a spectacular backdrop for the Gilchrist and Soames bath amenities and a home for the plush towels and single-cup coffeemaker.

We were only there for 1 night unfortunately, however, it was enough to restart our engines and get a little rest from our 3 little monsters Angels and the daunting tasks of everyday life.  Prior to making our trip to the Mariemont Inn, I took full advantage of the website and the recommendations the hotel made while staying there.   I first visited the page of the Village (meaning the village of Mariemont) and especially Dining.  We planned out our visit because we were only there for 1 night and I didn't want to take the chance that we would be wasting time waiting for a table when we could have had reservations.

Everything was within walking distance.  I will tell you about our visit and then we'll get back to the real reason for this post, to tell you all about the Best Western Premier Hotel, the Mariemont Inn.

I made reservations for Mr. Messy to have a head and face shave at the Mariemont Inn Barber Shop for shortly after we checked in at 5:00 p.m.  While Mr. Messy was enjoying a little pampering (that he so deserves) I walked across the Inn's parking lot to the Sweeterie for a little post dinner sweetness in our room.  If you visit the Mariemont Inn you cannot pass up on getting some cupcakes or cookies from this sweet little shop.  We enjoyed the Black and White cupcakes and some sugar cookies but not until after we visited the Quarter Bistro for dinner.

At the Quarter Bistro I took our servers recommendation of the Veggie Taco and I am so glad that I did.  It was a very intimate and romantic restaurant.  The price was very pleasant as well.  The atmosphere was amazing and the staff was perfect.  The best part was that it was directly across the street from the Inn's entrance.

My husband and I then took a little time out in our oasis of a room to call and check on our girls.  I do miss them when we are away, even if we are enjoying ourselves.  After a quick conversation with our 3 lovelies we headed to the Hotel Bar, which is part of The National Exemplar, for a night cap.  It was a wonderful experience with a soloist playing the guitar and singing.  Then it was off to our room for the rest of the night.

When checking in at this Best Western Premier location you can't help but notice all the character and charm.  I have never felt so welcome in a hotel before.  There were countless areas to sit and have conversations and they were all a little private.  Just enough room between you and another seating arrangement that you don't feel like you are interfering with someone else.  There was a fire place and when I asked the clerk about this she said that if we wanted it lit we need only ask the restaurant and they would be happy to take care of it for us.

After check in we went to our rooms to drop off our luggage and I had a few things I wanted to iron.  I had a little problem with the iron in our room but it was just a quick call to the front desk and the staff swooped in to resolve this issue and thanked me for letting them know about it.  I really felt like they were genuinely thankful and it wasn't just something they were being forced to say for my benefit.

The refrigerator in our room
The rooms of the Mariemont Inn were just remodeled in 2009 and wow, they did an amazing job!  My husband and I both enjoyed the hidden 42" T.V. above the beautiful fireplace.  It took us a minute to figure out how to find the T.V. but not for lack of instructions on the Hotel's part.  Just because we were in awe of how beautiful and relaxing this room was.

The shower was by far my favorite part of the room itself, oh wait, maybe it was the Tempurpedic bed, oh, it could have been the fireplace.  I don't know what was my favorite part because it was all wonderful and luxurious.  We really didn't want to leave the beautiful room but needed to get a full review of the entire hotel.

I like how they have a desk conveniently inside the room but I wasn't there to work.  If you are there on business, however, and need a separate office the hotel offers The Exchange for any of their guests to use.  I visited the Exchange and it's a small office with 2 desks, computers and printers.  This is a wonderful idea for the businessman or businesswoman who is on vacation with his family but still needs to get a few things done for the office.

Next to the Exchange is the Hotel Gymnasium.  It's a small gym that offers a weight bench, a treadmill, an elliptical machine and a stationary bike.  There are 2 televisions in the gym and a bathroom for convenience.

The room was spotless.  I mean it was immaculately cleaned.  There was no smoking in the rooms and it didn't smell at all like smoke.  I had to sign a paper stating I would pay a fine of $1,000 if there was evidence showing that I did smoke in the room.  I think that might be the reason why there was no trace of smoke in that room.

After an amazing nights sleep I was up without an alarm by 7:00 am.  That's because I slept like a baby on that Tempurpedic bed.  I let my husband sleep in while I enjoyed the most amazing shower of my life.  With a shower head on the wall and one in the ceiling I was pretty happy.  I could have fit my whole family including my 2 gigantic dogs in that shower with me if I needed to.  Needless to say it was pretty roomy.

I was able to make some coffee with the single serve coffee maker in my room if I wanted to, however if I didn't want to take the time to do that Best Western offered a coffee stand right by the elevator on the first floor for convenience.  I chose to have some at The National Exemplar with breakfast.  I woke up my sleepy head of a husband so he had time to enjoy the shower too, since I knew he would be bummed if he missed out on that.

We headed to The National Exemplar, which is located on the first floor of the hotel.  I asked the server what she recommended and it was the Sour Dough French Toast.  I can see why she was more than happy to recommend it.  My husband enjoyed some of the biggest chocolate chip pancakes I've ever seen.  They were delicious also!

Check out was a breeze, except for the tantrum I had because I didn't want to leave.  The staff was wonderful calming me down though.  After check out my husband and I walked around the lobby to enjoy all the character and charm of this Best Western Premier Hotel.

The property was built in 1926 and in 2006 the Mariemont Inn began the renovations that makes it the luxurious hotel it is today.  The renovations consisted of completely cutting the building down to its brick walls and foundation.  The 60 rooms were replaced with 45 larger rooms.  The rooms were filled with a new decor and custom furniture, fixtures, molding, warm-glow fireplaces, windows etc.

I had asked the wonderfully helpful woman at the front desk about some of the renovations.  She said that the hotel lobby and The National Exemplar were not renovated and that only the hotel rooms were.  While walking around the lobby my husband and I were amazed to see the some things found in the rooms during the renovations displayed in cases.  We saw old beer cans, a ginger ale bottle, matchbooks and other pieces of history.  We were both amazed when we read a pay stub that was found.  It was dated in 1956 and the gentleman had worked 32 hours and had been paid, after taxes, $89 and some change.  My husband seems to remember that he was a plumber.  I am so glad that Best Western decided to display some of the history of the beautiful Inn.

There was scrap book kept by management in the mid 1930's and that is displased in a case in the lobby also.  The Mariemont Inn will turn the pages each week for everyone to enjoy.  I enjoyed the character and history of this beautiful hotel.

Prior to staying at The Best Western Premier Hotel I would have skipped over Best Western hotels while searching for places to stay.  This won't be the case anymore.  I will go directly to the Best Western site and see if there is availability with them first.  I highly recommend The Best Western Hotel line for your vacations, getaways and business trips.  If you are visiting Cincinnati I urged you to stay at the Mariemont Inn as it is just outside of Cincinnati and such an amazing experience.

I have to be honest, I have only stayed at Best Western once in Folly Beach.I was exhausted so I can't remember much of it. I am impressed with your visit though and will make sure to keep Best Western at the top of our list for when we go on vacation this summer. It is so hard to find clean, friendly and enjoyable hotels with amenities such as you have found here. I love the way you described everything as well, hearing this from an actual person and not just a commercial really makes a difference to me when we plan our vacations and the fact that we travel frequently will make me take notice of Best Western from here on out.
