Tire Discounters invited Messy Mama to the launch of it's newest Eco-Friendly store, which was designed to be an environment
customers would actually enjoy spending time in. This store prototype took over 2 years to plan and create. Development
of the new design was driven by research, customer comments and feedback at
over 80 locations. They first recognized that the majority of tire buyers are women. Tire Discounters spoke with their customers to find out what they wanted out of a tire store.
“We wanted to create a design with a customer friendly environment that contained all the amenities to not only make her comfortable, but provide additional resources to help make more informed decisions," said Mark Browning, Lead Project Designer.
I don't know about you, but I just recently had the unpleasant experience of tire shopping about 6 weeks ago. Ironically, and through no affiliation, I did buy a full set of tires from Tire Discounters then. I did not purchase my tires from the newest Tire Discounters but from a newer store close to me. I would like to first tell you about my experience buying tires.
I did what I always do and shopped around making calls and checking online prices. Buying a set of 4 tires for a mini-van is not cheap. Buying a set of 4 tires for any vehicle is not cheap. Each location was very close in price. I called Tire Discounters who actually gave me a quote of $3 higher than my lowest quote so far. I politely thanked the young man on the phone and said no thanks. He wasn't pushy but simply asked if I had gotten other prices yet and how they measured up. I told him the truth and he said he'd be glad to beat that price. He then went on to say that he will absolutely give me the lowest price that I had been quoted so far, plus all the goodies (Alignment, Lifetime Rotation, Nitrogen Inflation, Lifetime Balancing and Lifetime Valve Stems) and maybe he could get me a better deal.
I'm so sad that I didn't get to enjoy my wait of getting my new tires (which was done in about an hour-no joke) in the newest store at 10174 Colerain Ave. I mean, this was a pretty fabulous store. I felt comfortable in there. I was told that this was a store for moms, so I brought my crazy girls with me, why not right? I wanted to give it a real test drive. I didn't take FB, there was no way I would be able to do anything with her, because honestly I wasn't there to wait for tires that day, I was there to see and learn about, the new store. I don't think I would have a problem taking a toddler here if I needed new tires or any other maintenance done to my car. A little secret that the tire business doesn't want you to know, the quickest way to get in and out is to bring a toddler with you (that was free).
I couldn't help but feel welcome while walking around the new store. I really have to say how much I like that Tire Discounters took extra measures to make this store so much better for our world. Construction includes energy efficient glass, use of recycled
rubber materials in flooring and landscaping; LED lighting and light reflecting
roofing. Digital in-store presentations and communications will reduce the use
of paper, while state-of-the-art energy efficient air compressors and rotary
shock waves (car lift technology) will
save energy.
“Together with Tire Discounters, we've looked at every aspect of this design and used cutting edge, environmentally sustainable materials every step of the way,” said Lee Groh, Turner Construction Company Senior Project Manager. “We look forward to building upon our success at the Colerain location.”

Tire Discounters was established
in 1976, the company has remained under the same private ownership under the
leadership of Chip Wood for the past 35 years. The company now has over 900 employees. I think it's fabulous that they plan to open 60 additional locations over the next five years based on this prototype store.
I truly love how open this store is, leaving everything available to the customer. The innovative store design also provides added transparency to waiting customers
through video feeds that are featured in the waiting room, enabling customers
to watch their car as it’s worked on every step of the way. Also, communication
barriers are removed by providing technicians with individual tablets, creating
a clearer personalized interaction for every customer.
No one gets excited over the thought of tire shopping. Well, I'm sure some of you do, but most of us busy mamas and dads would rather go to the park or catch a ball game with our little ones. Unfortunately, this is one of those things that needs to be done. What would you like to see in a tire retailer? Would any of these features make you choose Tire Discounters over another tire retailer? I can say yes, because I've been there in person and I see myself as a customer for life, and also because, at Tire Discounters, I got out the door with more.
