Having Nail Fun with Sally Hansen

Recently (well, not that recently) Sally Hansen sent me a box of some fun items they offer for your nails.  I received nine Nail Polishes of the Complete Salon Manicure collection (awesome colors and we'll talk about that later), six Nail Art Pens and The Sally Gel Polish Starter Kit.  I was in need of some girl time and this was just in time.

I dove right into The Complete Manicure Polishes!  I couldn't wait to get my hands on them, or should I say them on my hands (he he).  All the colors were beautiful!  I am so terribly picky when it comes to my nails.  "Don't settle for just color when you can get a base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, salon-inspired color, top coat, chip resistance and a gel finish all in 1 bottle."   I won't go to a salon and have my nails done because most of the time I like it better when I do them myself.  However, I don't get the lasting effects of the salon manicure when I do them at home.  That is, until now!

First let me tell you how much I like the applicator brush, it's wider so it covers more of your nail in with each stroke.  The polish glides on nicely.  I mean it's that perfect consistency, not too thick but not too thin.  I am sold on this polish. I had never used Sally Hansen polish before and I'm kind of sad that I've been using other brands.  Not only does it go on so beautifully, it stays on!

Let's run down the colors that we received, but just remember this isn't even close to all the colors they offer at Sally Hansen.  I love the Nail Color Selector Tool through Sally Hansen's website.  I received Punch Drunk, All Fired Up, Pink Pong, Water Color, Jaded (the hot color for this season), Golden Rule, First Kiss, Almost Almond and Pat on the Black.

I painted both Drama and Diva's nails. Yes, I like to paint their nails every now and then too.  Well, they like it more than me.  I don't mind using regular polish on them since neither of them put their hands in their mouth, so I'm comfortable doing this.  I wouldn't recommend using this or any other polish for your daughter if she puts her hands in her mouth.  Let's just stay safe when it comes to our kids, right?  So, I painted their nails and I kid you not a week later my six year old's nails still looked spectacular!  I am just going by the Sally Hansen polish I used, I didn't add a top coat, so this is GREAT polish.

The Nail Art Pens are so much fun!  "Express yourself! Now you can be creative with your nails in seconds! Just press pen point to activate nail color and start designing on your nails! " We received six colors:  Coral, Periwinkle, Chartreuse, Pearly White (this is a must have!), Blue and Orange.  I'm not crafty or creative and I don't have a steady hand.  It was still fun to put little designs on my nails.  I'm sorry to say that I wasn't able to get a good picture of the results with the pens, but I'm not a professional photographer and am working on this for you.  My girls LOVED these pens!  I have a few nieces that are teens and I can't wait to let them have fun with them also!  I feel like Sally Hansen is looking out for us girls and making sure we have some fun!

Finally (as in the final product I am reviewing and FINALLY it is available to us) I received The Sally Gel Polish Starter Kit.  My mom is a big fan of the Gel Polish from the salon and goes a couple times a month to get her nails done there.  I don't know how much it costs but I know it's not cheap and I also know it takes a big chunk of time.  I've thought about going to do it but I don't have time. I mean, I'm lucky to catch a shower.  I don't have an hour to spend at a nail salon and I don't have that kind of money to pay out a few times a month.

Can I just tell you that I may have been a little overly excited about this kit?  My youngest daughter had just fallen asleep for her nap and I start opening the box and reading the directions.  Part of the way through filing she woke up and I put her on my chest and let her go back to sleep.  I was too excited to stop doing my nails though.  I continued doing them with her sleeping on my lap and chest.  I was able to do my left hand no problem, doing my right hand is a little more difficult since I'm right handed.  I'm explaining all of this to you to show you just how simple this process is.  After I was done with my left hand, my husband was able to take her.  I handed her over with ease because my nails were completely dry.  I didn't have to sit there for 15 minutes waiting for them to be dry.  Oh, I love this kit so much!

I finished my other hand in about five minutes and viola, my nails were done and they had a mirror shine.  Let's see how they held up though.  I didn't have a problem until day 11, but that was from the gel polish.  I actually broke my index finger nail because it was too long.  So, I didn't make it to day 14 but that wasn't because the gel polish didn't hold up, that's because it did hold up and my nails grew out too much.  Normally I change my polish a few times a week because the polish chips and I'll file my nails down a little each time.  With the Sally Gel Polish I don't have to keep doing my nails because the polish holds up and it's a mirror shine that doesn't chip.

Day 1
I compared my at home Sally Gel Polish manicure that I did with the one that my mom had done at the salon.  Mine shined so much more than hers it was unreal.  I couldn't believe how much better my do it yourself manicure looked compared to her professional manicure.  Currently Sally Hansen offers 16 different colors of the Gel Polish.

Day 10
Overall, I am converted to being a Sally Hansen customer for my nails!  There's no way I'll be choosing any other nail products in the future.  Plus, it's super convenient as Sally Hansen products are available at so many stores.  I can walk to my local Walgreens in five minutes and pick up some.  As a matter of fact I've since been to Walgreens to purchase another color of the Gel Nail Polish, I chose Back to the Fuchsia, which is a hot pink shade, for summer.
