PAAS and Heinz Easter Egg Decorating!

I have to admit, the last 5 years of Easter I have not decorated eggs a Easter with my girls.  I know, I just heard you gasp.  I just cannot imagine the mess that comes along with it.  I mean, my house is a cluster of school papers, bills, junk mail, coats, bags, toys and everything else that you probably have lying around your own home.  I just haven't jumped on the idea of decorating Easter Eggs with my kids just to have a bigger mess.

 

I was given the opportunity some decorating kits from PAAS and Heinz.  I thought I can' get away with this any longer.  The fact that one of the reviews was an egg decorating app for my iPad made it a little easier to agree to this.  I received my package and put it off just a little bit since I kind of was nervous about making a bigger mess in this already messy house.

 

Finally, I hard boiled about 3 dozen eggs and we decided to give it shot.  I got a tip from Heinz Vinegar to add 2 tablespoons of Heinz Distilled White Vinegar per quart of water to the pot before putting in your eggs it will hep keep the eggs from cracking.  The shells should also peel off faster and easier when they're done.  The girls had an absolute blast of a time.  The giggled he whole time and their was not fighting at all, which is a shock to me.  They were telling each other that this egg as the prettiest or the brightest.  I had so much fun watching them. 

Heinz Distilled White Vinegar can be found at most major grocery, drug and mass market stores at an average price of $1.34 for a 16 ounce glass bottle and $1.99 for a 32 ounce glass bottle. 

There really wasn't any kind of mess at all.  A little of the dye spilled out of the coloring cups from the girls dropping the eggs in to hard but other than that nothing!  So, why have I been missing this all these years.  I know it's for the kids but it's so much fun to watch them.  Seriously, as parents the joy that we get now is mainly from watching our kids have all these fun experiences that we had. 

First we used the Color Cups Kit.  I love this because the cups are colored and if you just put the coordinating color into the correct cup.  The girls didn't have to keep asking me what cup had what dye in it.  They just had a great time on their own.  I did get the eggs out of the cups for them.

The Volcano Eggsplosion Kit was probably the biggest hit with the girls.  For this I had to cook up another dozen eggs as I neglected to read the directions prior to starting.  You'll need hot or warm eggs for this kit but it is super fun too and worth running to the store to get another dozen eggs to cook. 

The girls had a great time Deggorating Doodles and Touch of Velvet too!  The Touch of Velvet is probably my favorite because it comes with stickers and it's really so easy to come up with some beautiful eggs. 

The best Egg Decorating was done on the iPad though!  If you search “PAAS/Heinz” in the iTunes App Store and download the app, or access it from your desktop or laptop computer at www.heinzpaaseaster.com.  You can start deggorating right away!  I made a few eggs to show the girls what to do and then the girls had a blast making so many eggs.  Plus you can do it anywhere, so why not keep the kids busy while waiting at the doctor's office or while in the car on your way to visit the family for Easter.
