Copy-Kids Review and Giveaway

We have been given the opportunity to review the Copy-Kids DVD titled eat fruits and vegetables and I highly recommend it for any parent of a youngster aged 6 months to 5 years.  I have to say, this DVD is full of sweetness.  It’s honest kids, who are unscripted, eating healthy foods and they are all enjoying themselves.

Now, Drama, who is 5 and Diva, who is 4, are a totally different story.  They don’t want to even try new foods.  By new I mean anything besides a plain cheese sandwich, pizza, (with no cheese or sauce, so basically dough) and chili.  I know, weird!  But those are the foods they’ll eat.  We have a new rule in the house, if it’s on their plate; they have to at least lick it.  It used to be take a bite but there have been too many tears shed and I really want to keep my sanity so we’ve gotten to just licking new food.  We continue to offer foods to them even though they say they don’t like them because I have read that it takes something like 20 times to decide if you like something or not.

When I received the DVD in the mail I looked it up on http://copy-kids.com/ and this is the description:

A joy-filled video and an innovative tool for parents who want to get children to enjoy eating fruits and vegetables.

Copy-Kids is a media company producing video that encourages positive habits in young children, by watching and copying other kids. Copy-Kids unique content — DVD, online and TV — helps parents get their children hooked on healthy and positive habits.

Produced for children aged 6 months to 5 years, Copy-Kids innovative video is fun and compelling for both children and parents.

Copy-Kids launched in January 2012 with our first DVD — Copy-Kids Eat Fruits and Vegetables.

The DVD features 12 x 7 minute chapters, one for each of twelve fruits & veggies:

bell pepper           carrots                         raspberries                  broccoli
bananas              strawberries                 tomatoes                     cucumber
oranges                avocado                       apples                          blueberries

Each chapter features several adorable and entertaining children aged 9 months to 4 years, eating with joy and delight. It’s a simple but revolutionary tool for parents who want their kids to develop a life-long habit of healthy eating. The DVD includes an on-camera discussion about healthy eating with renowned pediatrician Dr. Jay Gordon, plus a section of delightful outtakes.

I decided I needed to have everything on hand for the girls to try.  So immediately I went to the grocery.  For each new chapter I would set that food out on a plate.  Drama, 5, who decided she wouldn’t try anything finally tried the cucumber and the raspberries.  She said: “they are a little good” about both but decided she didn’t want to try anymore.  Diva, 4, has decided she loves cucumbers and tomatoes.  She likes to eat the cucumbers without the seeds (next time I’ll look for seedless).  She also liked the grape tomatoes better than the ones on the vine.

I have to say that I’m shocked!  I really didn’t expect my girls to try anything.  The DVD will only get your child to try the food and usually without any coaching from you but it will not make your child like a food.  So don’t put this in thinking your child will constantly ask for fruits and veggies from now on.  I plan to keep putting it on for my girls and when my Fat Baby is big enough to care about what she is eating I’ll show this to her immediately to hopefully give her good habits from the beginning.  Copy-Kids got my kids to try foods without a fight and I've been trying to do this for years, I wonder if they have a DVD of kids cleaning their rooms?
